Overt Software Moodle server are hosted within the United Kingdom in Tier 3/4 data centres to address any GDPR concerns. ISO-27001 hosting is also available within our London Docklands data centre if required.

VPS and dedicated servers

We have a variety of server specifications for you to choose depending on the scope of your project. 

VPS Servers: Ideal for smaller Moodle implementations or micro sites. These servers share the same hardware as other customer servers but encompass their own containers on the hardware which means no other customer will be able to access your data. 

Dedicated Servers: Completely customisable dedicated server hardware allow you to build a server to your requirements. Dedicated servers host only your content so you can rest assured the hardware specification you choose is dedicated to your Moodle only. They prove to be a brilliant way of future proofing your Moodle installation by providing abundant disk storage, RAM and CPU computational power for your VLE platform. The abundance of storage which is always configured in RAID10 for maximum relaiability allow you not only to create sandbox VLE's for testing, but also allow you to take archive snapshots of your Moodle for academic yearly rollover.

Monitoring and Backups

Every VLE hosting package available from Overt Software comes pre-bundled with 24/7 server monitoring and offsite disaster recovery backups for peace of mind in the event of hardware failure.

We monitor all servers as standard and can even provide additional enhanced monitoring at the data centre level to address problems before they become apparent to your users.

All server deployments also benefit from twice daily offsite disaster recovery backups which store a three day retention of your server data, offsite and encrypted in transit and at rest.

In the event of major hardware failure we can use these backups to restore your Moodle site and massively mitigate any potential data loss. If you require additional retention of backups this is also posible.
