Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom, who had served as monarch since 1952, died on Thursday, September 8, 2022. The 96-year-old was placed under medical supervision that morning and was joined by her immediate family members at Windsor Castle. Her passing was confirmed with a tweet from the Royal Family’s official Twitter account.
